Well, hello listeners! Long time!

So, EGG has been silent for awhile. Gene & I have been living in separate worlds, meeting only occasionally on the river of broken dreams, which braches from the River Styx if you can believe it! He has been traversing the lanes of school and married life and I have been working towards the same same. Oh, and pouring life into a little radio show called The NW Saturday Show.

Missing the days of yore, I dug up some old EGG. Now, being older and vaguely wiser and much better looking, I thought I might try breathing new life into my old radio show: I'm calling it 'EGG Re-Hatched'.

Starting with never before aired Volumes 1-13, I have begun re-editing (some content is horribly out of date) our old shows and have plans for reboadcasting through The NWSS host home, PDX Revolution. These fine nuggets will also be downloadable through iTunes.

I am progressing well and have almost finished Volume 1. I will be sure to make current updates as often as I have them. I look forward to your input and can't wait to see what fun this will be!

Is it true? Be there a new blog by the EGG In The Morning Crew? Why yes, there is! How exciting for us all! All you EGG addicts are now asked to please fall off the wagon and relapse into the fun!

I vaguely know what you must be saying: "But Erik, what are you talking about? Gene has moved away, married and familied himself and there is no show without him! You're crazy!! Stop you're crazy talk, filthy man!"

I assure you all, I have an evil plan to save the world. Allow me a minute of your time. I have two amazingly mediocre ideas. Picture with me if you will...

EGG Classic!

Plan numero uno is to begin re-editing and re-releasing the episodes of EGG In The Morning! I am talking with starting all the way back at Volume 1. With about 85 total shows, you will be rolling in the aisles!! You will be able to download weekly a classic EGG episode. I am also in the works of releasing the last two episodes of EGG that never aired. The writer's strike has hurt us all, eh? Sweet pickles, what a good idea! El Plano Numero Dos...

The Erik Show

There is no doubt that I have been wicked bored since EGG was yanked off the air. I have been in the process of writing though! I realized that the success of the "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" story was no fluke. I am in the midst of brainstorming several short story series that I will post on the blog and that you will be able to interact with. Fun, no? Here are some of the titles I have been bouncing around with (just to get the salivation glands goin' again): Hunting with Randy the Deer, Foot Traffic (starring Greg the Foot Soldier), The Ambiguous Adventures of Jamba & Mamba & Sheldon's Couch.

Pleased? Me neither, just what we gotta do. Look for things to begin this week. I have some spare time.

And The Story Goes On! Shudders

Good evening, kids. Sorry about not writing sooner. Daddy has been hitting the sauce at Starbucks pretty hard. He has come back down now, though. It was pretty difficult to tally the scores for this last story choice. We had one for checking out the bushy haired boy, one for jetting to the past and one for finding a girl for Jamba to fall in love with, which wasn't a choice. I will be sure to give that person a stern talk on when it is appropriate to express creativity. So, since we have a tie (of sorts), we shall go with what I wanna do. To the past!!! Yee-HAW!!!

Quick recap! While looking for his wooly hermano Mamba in the Museum of Natural History, our hero, Jamba, has stumbled across Dr. Chuck's time traveling lab. After agreeing to assist Dr. Chuck in a time traveling experiment a furry blur runs by and Mamba the missing brother jumps through the recently opened time portal. And thus our Pulitzer Prize winning adventure continues...

"I'll look for Mambanator in the past," Jamba tells Dr. Chuck.
"I'm sexy," the scientsit replies , much to Jamba's surprise. Dr. Chuck provocatively punches another set of numbers into the computer.
"Now step right through the Chronoport," Dr. Chuck instructs Jamba. "And happy hunting."
Jamba, perplexed by this odd fella, approaches the shimmering frame and enters it. Jamba feels a strange tingling sensation (don't go there!!). Everything appears hazy, as if he is underwater. A second later Jamba sees two paths ahead in the mist (how convenient!).
Wow!
At the end of the left path Jamba squints to see a tall stone castle in the distance. A knight in shining armor on a white horse rides toward it.
At the end of the right-hand path there's a swamp with tall, strange-looking trees towering over it. Moving among the trees is...can it be? Godzilla!!! No wait, it's a dinosaur!
Which path did MambaSamba choose? Which one should JambaBoBamba take? DECIDE QUICK!!!

1) I think Mamba wanted some knight action!
2) I think Mamba wanted to see Godzilla!...I mean, the dinosaurs!

EGG's Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Family Time - Chapter 5

Here we are again with another installment of our Listener directed story. We received unanimous votes for sending Jamba to the zoo as punishment for violating street laws of the future. Oooo! What will happen today? I can't wait! Let's read...

Jamba loves the zoo! (How did you Listner's know??) What a weird punishment, Jamba thinks, as the police robot takes him away in a flying car.
Soon they zoom through the zoo gates. Giraffes, elephants, tigers and antelopes roam around the grounds. Instead of bars, a shimmering transparent force field separates the animals from the viewers.
"You will remain here," the robot announces, stopping in front of an exhibit that looks like a living room, with a couch, chairs and a TV (oddly not HD).
"Almost forgot," the robot said. "Yoink!" He yanks the chronometer off of Jamba's neck! Oh snap!!
"Give that back!" Jamba shouts but the robot ignores him. It aims its laser gun at the force field around the exhibit. The field dissolves and the robot pushes Jamba into the exhibit.
"Wait a minute!" Jamba protests. "You can't leave me here!"
"Ummm... Yes I can. I'm sure you will be comfortable," the robot tells Jamba. It zaps its gun again and the force field goes back up.
"NO!" Jamba cries, trying to push through the force field.
(Uh oh...)
Then a group of robots approach. Two little ones point and make strange coughing noises.
What are they pointing at?
"Look at this one!" says a little robot. It gazes at the sign in front of the force field. "It's the 'Couch Potatoe' exhibit," the small robot goes on. It begins to make strange noises again.
"It's not polite to laugh at the humans," one of the bigger robots says.
"But Mommy," replies the little one. "It's so funny looking. Here, human!" it adds. It shoves something through the force field. Jamba leans down to pick up a candy bar.
"Look!" says the little one. "It picked up the candy! It's eating it!" The small robot pushes another candy bar through the force field.
With a sinking feeling, Jamba realizes that he's stuck here for good. But cheer up, Jamba! At least when the little robots visit, you'll get to eat plenty of candy.

The End.............?

So, here is the deal. We failed to find Mamba BUT I think it might be fun to "pretend" that we chose another way and this all just a horrible Dallas-esque dream and that Patrick Duffy... I mean Jamba is still alive and kickin' and not dead...in a zoo pen somewhere. Now is your time to choose! If you need to review the story paths, please do. ?Donde esta' El Mamba?

The Time Adventure Continues! -- Chapter 4

Well EGG Listeners, it's story time again! Between this EGG Blog Page and our Kuzoa Page, we had 6 votes! Futuristic City won with 4 votes to 2 over present time looking New York City. Without further ado...

Jamba decided (with some help, that is) to go toward the futuristic city. All around him are buildings made of shiny metal and glass. Cars - with wings - fly above Jamba's wee head. The streets are empty and clean, with no litter - not even a gum wrapper or Brittney Spears CD.
Is this New York in the future? It certainly looks different from the one Jamba and the EGG gang are visiting in the present.
Jamba is about to start looking for Mamba when a hand closes on his shoulder in an icy grip!
"Human?" a hollow-sounding voice says. "You're under arrest!"
Jamba whirls around. Gripping his shoulder is a shiny metal robot with a policeman's badge welded to its chest. The robot's face is expressionless and it's holding something that looks like a Lasik Surgery Laser gun. No wonder everything is so clean and quiet, Jamba thinks. The city is run by machines!
"Don't you know that humans aren't allowed out in the streets?" the robot demands.
"I come from...another place," Jamba quickly replies. "I don't know your rules. Please give me another chance."
"That's for the judge to decide," the robot says. "Walk this way."
Jamba follows the robot into a big, glass-walled building. The robot leads Jamba to a courtroom. A shiny fembot dressed in black sits behind a tall desk.
Judith Scheindlin is stamped on a name plate on the fembot's platform. The judge, Jamba realizes.
"You are accused of appearing in the streets, human...idiot," the Judge Judy fembot says. "How do you plead?"
"Guilty, Your Honor," Jamba says. "But I didn't --"
"Silence!" Judge Judy cuts you off. Ooo, just like on TV, Jamba thinks! "There are no excuses. For punishment, you may have your choice (how convenient, huh?): You will be sentenced to school or to the zoo."
School? The zoo? What kind of punishments are those? To find out...

EGG's Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Family Time - Chapter 3

Votes are in! The initial count showed 4 for the past and 3 for the future. However, I noticed that one little girl voted three times, for the past. Beings that this isn't American Idol and, even though I strike an amazing resemblance, I am not Paula Abdul, Lil' Lisa will get one vote for the past (although, yea for your enthusiasm and interest in Mamba's safety!) making it future = 3, past = 2. Onwards children!!

"I think the Mambanator went to the future," Jamba announces.
"I hope you're right, otherwise we can be expecting some Mamba Ooze in the mail!" Dr. Chuck punches another computer key. "Are you ready, my small friend? Step through the Chronoport."
Jamba enters the glowing frame. As he moves through it he feels a strange tingling sensation. Should've taken a potty break when he had a chance!!
"One more thing!" Dr. Chuck calls out. His voice sounds far away. "Before you can return, remember..."
"What?" Jamba cries as his words fade away. What was that nutty professor saying?
Ahead of Jamba in the mist are two scenes: a big, futuristic-looking city with small cars flying around like planes.
Another view seems to be of New York City! Jamba recognizes a few buildings, like the Empire State Building. As he watches, a small bushy boy, who looks like Mamba, disappears behind another tall building. But is it really Mamba?

Its that time again! Should Jamba jump to the futuristic looking city or to the New York look-a-like which had the possible Mamba? Voting begins.... NOW!!

1) Mamba is in the strange, futuristic city!

EGG's Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Family Time - Chapter 2

After tallying the scores from this blog page and our Kuzoa Page (www.kuzoa.com/EGG) it is unanimous that Jamba says a big yes to Dr. Chuck's experiment to travel in time. Shall we continue with the story, you adventuresome kids? Alrighty...

"I'm ready to travel through time!" Jamba tells Dr. Chuck.
"Good," the white-haired man relies. He punches some numbers into the computer keyboard. The computer starts to hum. The square doorway between the clock and the computer fills with a strange, shimmering glow. "The Chronoport is almost ready," the scientist says, pointing to the frame. "I only need to adjust --"
But before he can continue, Jamba hears pounding footsteps. Jamba turns to see Mamba racing toward him.
"MAMBA!" Jamba cries. Mamba heads straight for the Chronoport. "You can't go in there!"
"You're not the boss of me!" Mamba yells. He runs straight through the glowing frame. There's a soft pop before he disappears completely.
"Oh, Shizz!" Dr. Chuck cries. "He went before I made the final settings! If you don't bring him back within 2 hours of real time, he'll disappear into timelessness forever!"
"What?" Jamba cries. He stares at Dr. Chuck. Erik & Gene are going to ground Jamba for life if he loses Mamba (for some odd reason).
"You'll have to travel in time to find him," Dr. Chuck tells Jamba. "I'd better make those adjustments to the Chronoport so you don't disappear into timelessness, too!"
Jamba continues his vacant stare at Dr. Chuck as he fiddles with the time machine. Jamba can't believe it -- this guy is serious!
"When you find that shaggy-looking kid," Dr. Chuck goes on, "you must be touching each other (ew) before you can use the Chronometer. Otherwise, the device will only bring one of you back."
"No problem," Jamba says, snapping out of his unwarranted trance. "But where did Mamba go? The future or the past?"
"There's no way of knowing whether he has gone to forward in time -- or back," Dr. Chuck replies, looking slightly amused. "You'll have to guess."
Jamba touches the Chronometer around his neck. It begins to measure real time the moment Mamba disappeared. Already the seconds are ticking by.

Now, you have to make a decision, Listeners: Is Jamba more likely to find Mamba in the past or in the future? Time to vote!!

Howdy Doody, Listener's! So Gene is gone, Jamba hasn't posted the last couple of shows yet and Erik is bored. Hence my idea. I thought it would be fun to do a choose your own adventure story together and we will vote on our next move...as a family. Our first story will be from R.L. Stine and it is entitled Goosebumps: Tick Tock, You're Dead! Today's is pretty long but they all shouldn't be. Let's begin...

What a crummy vacation! Jamba, his little brother Mamba and his parents, Gene & Erik, have come to New York City for Christmas vacation. Jamba thought he'd get to do a lot of cool things, like visit the Statue of Liberty and ice skate at Rockefeller Center. Instead, Gene & Erik are museum freaks (for some reason).
"It's entertaining," Erik says as he drags Jamba into the Museum of Natural History.
"It's educational," Gene declares as he shows Jamba a collection of ancient pottery.
"It's boring!" Jamba says but Gene and Erik could care less.
And the worst part is that Jamba is supposed to be in charge of his little woolly haired brother Mamba. Only Mamba doesn't want anyone to be in charge of him (can't make this stuff up kids...). "You're not the boss of me!" Mamba keeps saying.
Jamba follows his parents through the Museum of Natural History. At first it is kinda interesting. Jamba really likes the dinosaurs.
"Wait till you see what's in this room!" Erik cries.
Jamba rushes into the next room, expecting something exciting but Erik is standing in front of a sundial. "Isn't this just peachy?" Erik exclaims. "An exhibit on time! OOOOOooooo!"
Great, Jamba thinks. A whole room full of clocks. Boring!
Then Mamba gives Jamba a karate kick in the back of the leg.
"OW!" cries Jamba. "Stop it, you son of a ...."
"You're not the boss of me!" Mamba says smugly.
"Yes, I am!!" Jamba replies, punching him in the arm. Mamba whines and complains to Gene. Jamba can't win!
"I'm thirsty," Mamba says now. Jamba can see that Mamba has eaten almost half a bag of Gummi Bears in less than a minute and Jamba begins to have visions of drowning Mamba in a fountain.
"Can you find a drinking fountain for Mamba, dear?" Erik asks without taking his eyes off a grandfather clock.
"Come on." Jamba grabs Mamba's hand (sexy). But Mamba pulls away and runs off down the hallway. Jamba follows him. The hallway twists and turns. There's no sign of either Mamba or a fountain but near the end of the hall Jamba sees a sign on a door: WARNING! DANGEROUS EXPERIMENT INSIDE. THIS DOOR MUST BE KEPT LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.
Dangerous experiment? What does that mean? Jamba wonders. Jamba notices that the door is slightly open. Oh no! Mamba must have run in here, Jamba thinks.
Jamba pushes open the door wider and peeks in. There's no sign of Mamba. A tall, skinny man with long white hair tied in a pony tail is bent over a computer. The computer is hooked up to a big strange-looking clock. Between the computer and the clock is a large square contraption that looks like a picture frame. Jamba can hear the computer and the clock beeping and pinging.
"It's about time you got here!" the tall man says, straightening up. "I'm Dr. Chuck. You must be the KidsWorld Volunteer."
"Actually," Jamba starts to say, "I'm looking for --"
"There's no time to waste!" Dr. Chuck interrupts. "I'm ready to start the experiment. Come on over."
"Well, I --"
"Here!" he says. He places a chain around Jamba's neck. On the end of the chain is something that looks like a stopwatch. A very, very odd stopwatch, with a complicated-looking dial and four big knobs.
"Are you ready?" Dr. Chuck asks.

--break, Erik has a meeting...ok! I'm back!--

"Ready for what?" Jamba asks.
"Why, to travel in time, naturally," he replies. "You'll be the first human in history use the Living Hope Industries Traveling Chronometer."
"Chronomemter?" Jamba echoes. "What's that?"
Dr. Chuck points to the stopwatch around Jamba's neck.
"I don't have time --" Jamba starts to say but he is interrupted again.
"Of course you have time!" Dr. Chuck goes on. "It don't matter how long you remain in the past or future. When you return to the present, it will be the same moment that you left. It will be as if you weren't gone at all!"
"How does this work?" Jamba asks, pointing to the stopwatch.
"It's easy," says Dr. Chuck. "Press the button on the left side to travel to the past. Press the button on the right for the future. To return to the present, press the top button and the bottom button at the same time."
Cool! Jamba thinks. What if this guys invention really works? Traveling in time would be awesome!
"There's no time to waste!" Dr. Chuck determines. "I'm ready to begin the experiment now."
Jamba thinks for a moment. Dr. Chuck obviously believes Jamba is someone else but a trip through time sounds like a lot of fun. More fun than staring at crappy old bowls all day. And since Jamba'll return at the exact time he left, he'll still be able to find Mamba and return to Erik & Gene before they know anything is wrong.
On the other hand, Mamba is a silly-face and can get into a lot of trouble very fast and Erik & Gene will blame Jamba if anything happens because Mamba is Mamba and nothing can save Jamba there.

Make a decision now. Do you all want Jamba to travel in time or should he go look for Mamba first? Here is your choice, please vote for which you would like...

Why Sheldon Is A Head Doctor...

I recently interviewed our good friend and resident motivational speaker, Sheldon on some myths about eating healthy. This is the result...

Erik: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

Sheldon: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it.. don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Erik: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

Sheldon: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Erik: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

Sheldon: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Erik: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise
program?

Sheldon: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Erik: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

Sheldon: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be
bad for you?

Erik: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

Sheldon: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Erik: Is chocolate bad for me?

Sheldon: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Erik: Is swimming good for your figure?

Sheldon: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Erik: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

Sheldon: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Erik: Well Listeners, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. Thank you Sheldon. Any other thoughts?

Sheldon: Only this - For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.

1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.

CONCLUSION

Eat and drink whatever you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Greetings to all of you wonderful Listeners! E of the EGG In The Morning Show here. It's good to hear from me! Gene-o says hello from the nation of Spokane. He wanted to blog you all and tell you he just got his green card, so things are really starting to pan out for him. I know what you are thinking. Two issues of Erik Cares in two weeks? That's unheard of!! Well Listeners, I have pledged to you that when a problem rises among you and you are fishing for an answer, that I would be there. Just so happens that this is a busy time of the year, what with all the back-to-school, I guess. I know I wasn't invited back to school this year. Maybe you were. And if so, yea for you.

There have been several little tid-bits of rumor mill treading in our waters. Rumors of Hosts leaving, getting married, going to Vietnam to fight in the war... Lots of this and that. I even got an this email, which will guide us in our discussion today --

You are not the only worried Listener out there (assuming there are in fact more Listeners than yourself). Let me first quench the rumors. Yes, Gene has, in fact, been snagged by a very lovely young lady by the name of Kenna Williams. She has thusly stolen his heart. Gene-O-Mack is officially off the market...FOREVER!!!

Nextly, yes, Gene is leaving. He is planning on joining his lovely lady in her home town of Spokane, WA. But don't worry, he will be well taken care of.

Finallyly, what of EGG? There certainly can't be an EGG without our second G! What is a mediocre in popularity podcast to do? Well, we have a plan my dear FanManManDan! We have discovered a lovely thing known as Skype. Skype is a, well, I am not completely computer savvy so I will explain it in Erik Terms. Gene will be able to record with myself over the internet through Skype! I am not sure how much Gene bribed Harry Potter with to get this magical device but I have assurances that it does work. Maybe it will even help Gene get a couple of shows posted...

We are currently hammering out the details. We shall update you via blog and show what the plan-a-roony will be. I believe Mr. Jamba will be involved with that process but we have yet to deliver a contract that he likes. Hope that helps with you're concerns there, Mandingo.

I am having man problems. My guy is always happy! Stupidly happy sometimes! I don't get it. I do my best to remind him that we live in the real world and even though gas prices are in fact down slightly, it is a pipe dream to believe they will stay as such. Am I wrong in my thinking? I have noticed that your friend Gene has been extra happy lately, too. What's the deal? Is there some kind of man disease going around? Please help me understand why my girl powered self isn't this happy. Throw me a frickin' bone, would ya?!?

I have been in deep thought about your happy fella. Not in a weird way but I hear what you are saying. Us men tend to be on the happier side in general. But who could blame us? Here are some facts that may help you understand our general glee:

- When married, our last name stays put.
- The garage belongs to us.
- Any wedding plans seem to take care of themselves.
- To a man, chocolate seems to be just another snack.
- As a man, I could be president.
- Men never have to worry about being pregnant.
- Men can wear a white t-shirt to a water, IF they decide it is necessary to wear one at all!
- Mechanics tell us the truth.
- We never have to drive to another gas station restroom because the last one was quote, "Too Icky".
- The world is our urinal!
- Wedding dress = $5,000. Tux rental = maybe $100.
- New shoes don't cut, blister or mangle our feet.
- One mood. All the time.
- Phone conversations (with a few exceptions) are over in 30 seconds flat.
- As a man, you know stuff about tanks!
- You can open all your own jars.
- We get extra credit for even the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
- If someone forgets to invite me to something, we can still be friends afterward.
- Our underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.
- We men are unable to see wrinkles in our clothes.
- Not only do we only have to shave our face and neck but the same hairstyle will last us for years, if not decades (as needed).
- And, men can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes.

Morning Listeners! May I just say you smell very nice today! I don't know what you are wearing but can I just say...yum.

Listeners, I, as you are well aware, went to see "The Simpson's Movie" late last week. I am no stranger to this pop culture wallpaper. In fact, I would say I am as loyal a fan of The Simpson's as a man on my budget can be. Listeners, I am proud to say that I am proud of this movie. I don't want to give away too much of the plot here, although I am fully aware you could do a 5 second google search and find this information for yourself. It is just the principle of the thing. No spoilers from me!

The one thing I have aways loved about The Simpson's is their ability to make me forget that I am watching a cartoon. From the beginning, The Simpson's have capitalized on the fact that they were an animated program with real life emotions. The movie is no exception. The family dynamics are so well played out. Relationships are stretched, almost to the point of breaking and love is tested. And all of this encased in quick, smart and hilarious writing. A buffet of color and fun, Listeners!

If I could wrap up my feelings abut this movie in one sentence it would be simply this: "Just spend the ten bucks to see it." This a movie no one will regret seeing. If you have been a fan for years or haven't seen any of the 400 episodes that have previously aired, you will kick yourself for staying clear of this movie. "The Simpson's Movie" earns 5 EGGs out of 5. Do it. Go see it. Right now. Even if you already have. See it again. Leave work or home or your date and see it. Jesus would.

Hello Listeners! I thought today that I might try my hand at writing a concert review. What do you think? Well, I wrote it. So, I guess it doesn't really matter to much, now does it? We need to work on our communication, people!!

So, last Friday I went to the 2007 Honda Civic Tour, which featured Cobra Starship, Paul Wall, The Academy Is..., +44 and Fall Out Boy. First off, I had floor seats, which was the way to go and because I went this route, I dropped about $90. It was worth the stab to my wallet though.

I was late. Show started sooner than I thought. Because there so many bands, it had to start at 5pm and I thought 6pm. When I printed my tickets and saw that it was at 5 and current time was about 4:32, I screamed a lil. I took my girlie girl with me and we sped over there, making it into the Rose Garden by 5:20pm. So I missed Cobra Starship.

The first guy I saw was Paul Wall, who is a rapper. I saw him only briefly due to the fact that after throwin' up my hands once or twice, I just don't care. Not a rap kinda guy. But I was impressed, though, to see that when I went to the merch table, Mr. Wall was selling "grills". Not for BBQing but for pimpin' out yo toofs, daaaawg! Didn't buy one.

Next out was The Academy Is... and it wasn't too bad. They have great music that is fun and quite sing-along-able but they weren't too entertaining to watch live...bummer for them, too. I am sure this review will either make or break their career as they know it.

Due to lack of chairs and numb bums, Leslie and I decided to stand for the next group, +44. I was actually really looking forward to seeing these guys because their frontman and drummer are both ex members of now disbanded blink 182. Their set was the best of the night, to that point. Their drummer was an animal too! One of thee greatest I have ever seen if not the best. It was indescribable. Good set. Really good!
Last up was headliner, Fall Out Boy. Let me just say off the top, wow. Wow-ee! The set started not with the band walking out on stage but with an adrenaline fueled, anticipation pumping intro that concluded with the being rocketed out from underneath the stage! Their set was accompanied not only their by their latest and greatest but by video driven backgrounds that set the element and feel for each song and emotion boosting pyrotechnics! Every time you think you have been worn out, they play on, re energizing the crowd with each chord played.

All in all, A+!! Worth the cash, worth the wait (postponed from mid-May to late June) and worth my oh so precious time. Thank you Fall Out Boy!

I haven't written an issue of "Erik Cares" in a while. I know what you are thinking, Listeners. I'm lazy. But Listeners, I am not lazy. In fact, no one has had any problems to deal with! I am sorry to hear about your trouble. Seems like it is hard to read emotion in emails as it is, much less with a "chronic capper". I have a couple of really practical things you can try in salvaging this friendship.

1. Go back to Snail Mail -- Letter's are underrated. Letter's not only express that you care enough to put a little effort into your communication but that you are not too rushed by this Starbucks Nation to remember what all the alphabet letters are in cursive.

2. CAP BACK -- Simply see how your friend likes it when you do it to them. Only emphasize that you are using your indoor voice and if your friend wants to see real screaming, then they ought tell you that you look fat.

3. Report your friend's terrorist butt to the local authorities -- Let's face it, they are only days away from blowing something up anyway. Might as well save yourself an investigation.

I hope things go well for you. And remember, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Hiya Peeps & Peepetts! I had a thouht or two recently. First, apologizes for the lack of bloggage and posting of the show. Gene and I have been getting some much needed rest in the boonies of the Couv.

Second thought on it's way.....OH! If you have been around EGG for any amount of time, you know that we highlight a show and, in rare cases, a movie every week on the show. We play sound clips and share well researched info about these shows. Frankly, it is hard to think of shows do highlight sometimes!

Does Mediocrity Beat Whole-In-The-Wall?

I think each one of us is familiar with or know of the mediocre restaurant. The restaurants that have a wide selection of food, which is a strong suit, but variety decreases the quality. I am familiar with several places that have an plethera of various kinds of food to choose from and yet lack the signature that makes it unique. Do you know one of these?

I am not into these kinds of eateries. I am a die hard whole-in-the-waller. restaurants that aren't run by the everything for everyone mentality but the "this is what we do and we do it well" spirit. There is this amazing Cafe not far from where I work & live. It's called Biscuits. Biscuits' motto is "We don't serve fast food, we serve fresh food as fast as we can!" I love this!!

I have never been to a restaurant that is consistently as amazingly good as Biscuits is! The protions leave no man hungry and their prices don't make my wallet cry. Their breakfast are to die for! The have the best chicken fried staek that ever existed on planet earth. I have heard rumors that God stops by once a week to have it because it is so heavenly!

I also love chain restaurants that get the whole-in-the-wall mentality. I am not talking ol' Mickey-Dee's here. I am talkin' Muchas Gracias. God's answer to good quick mexican food! You know a place has the right stuff when you can swing by at 2:00am or 4:30pm and get the same delicious, ingredient jammed beakfast burrito!

All of that to say, fight for the little guy! Sure, you have to be good with the idea that you may die from eating this food in some cases but it is soooooooo wrth the potential pain **coughcoughMuchascoughcough**

What is your favorite small town shin-dig and/or whole-in-the-wall? If you don't have one, then you should be appalled and run for govenor now.

Why is LOVE so hard to find?

OK . . . before you "EGG o'fites" make a comment, let's get one thing straight . . . I do love Christ! And I get the fact (in my head) that I should be satisfied with only that relationship. The reality is that I wasn't initially "wired" that way. Yes, I've been purchasing upgrades since I became a believer in '97 . . . but it still doesn't alter the fact that I don't crave the affection of the fairer sex. Nothing would thrill me more than to have "the chosen one" walk up after a concert, kiss me on the cheek, and tell me that she loved it (the performance) . . . but not as much as she loved me! This has been a incredibly difficult path to walk on, and I catch myself wondering if maybe this isn't the thorn in my side (like Paul).

It's been sometime, since I "gave it" (the desire) over to the author of my life . . . and at 45 I wonder how much longer I'm going to have to endure this "craving" to be married. It's not that I think that the relationship will make me feel complete, it's more of a longing to be loved by another person "romantically". I think all of us want to know that we're attractive to someone . . . especially someone we're attracted to!

I know one thing for sure, I can't continue hiding in my studio . . . because I don't think that I'm worth it, or because I feel unattractive. Thank GOD for PROZAC, and for good friends!

I Am The Mini Golf Champ!

Yes, I just might be the Tiger Woods of Steakburger's Golf-O-Rama!

I was out with a group of sweet and fun loving people yesterday, my day off don't you know, for some tasty lunch and a round of mini golf. One of my friends/competetors found it necessary to try and scare me off with his boasting of the fact that he had just watched "Happy Gilmore" but I was wise to his plans!
**Quick note for those that aren't savvy to what Happy Gilmore is, it's a golf comedy featuring a generic Adam Sandler character. The best part is when he has a fist fight with Bob Barker. "The Price is Wrong, B!t(|-|" (Did I hide that well enough??)

Anyway, back to my tale. I kept my cool for the whole match and, despite a couple of double and quad bogie holes I emerged victorious with a mighty 12 over par. Not bad. I will keep everyone else's score a secret so as not to drag their good names through the mud. Can we pause for applause? Thanks!

So, I have been living here in this apartment for about three weeks. I have a little bit of a laundry quandry! My roomies and I are having laundry crashes! It's isn't a huge deal but I was out of underwear as of yesterday. I would be commando today if not for washing my "undies" at quite a late hour. The only trouble: Matt beat me to the washer.

Darn him getting home earlier than me! Don't get me wrong. I am not upset, it is all just a learning process. I am also realizing my towels don't get dry on one run through. If they weren't so cottony and soft I would curse their name but they are tremendously fluffy and dry me well, so they are worth the wait.

All of that to say, I lack sleep but have underpants on. Spring Fresh.

Have you ever had a show that you really want to see but keep missing it?

I just got cable at my new apartment and I am beginning to discover all of the joys of cable programming. I have recently discovered such great shows as Man vs. Wild and Mind Of Mencia. But there was something I saw advertised that just about made me squeal like a school marm. A show on the Discovery Channel by the name of Mythbusters was doing an episode all about finding out if the things that ninjas could supposedly do were possible. OH MY GOSH!!!!

I am happy to say that I failed to record this marvel. At least until I found out something about cable that made me take the noose off of my neck. Cable shows repeat. Often. Can we just all take this opportunity to just applaud God for the creation of cable?

....Pause.....

I am now happy to say that MythBusters: "Walking On Water", the episode dedicated to the ninja myth is waiting happily for me in my VCR. Just thought you'd get a kick out of that. Or that you would be bored and read this anyway.

Every once in a while, a movie comes along that makes me want to quit my job expressly for the purpose of going to see it every day at every possible showing. Hot Fuzz is one of those movies....

From the guys who brought you Shaun Of The Dead (another amazing movie, if I do say so myself), comes the story of a outstanding and by the book london cop who is just too darn good at his job and is thus tranferred a small town, which just happens to hold the Village of the Year Award. In this village that is filled with quirky yet lovable people, something isn't quite right as officer Nick Angel discovers. With his cop movie loving buddy by his side, they begin to investigate this awkward town.

This movie has pretty much everything I look for in a movie. A great variety of well thought out characters, a great plot which makes you wonder what the big secret is, smart and stupid humor and some sick action! If you want to see a good movie, this is the one you wanna see! it became one of my all time favorites over night.

BTW, do you guys have a favorite movie? Why is it your fave? You should share so that I will feel like I have friends.

Broken Hearts . . .

It's seems that every once in awhile I'm reminded of relationships long gone. Love is a grand adventure when you're in the middle of it. Every meeting seems new and exciting, just the sound of his/her name and the heart begins to race . . . remember the 4 hour phone call up till 3am and you have a exam in the morning but you don't care because the love of your life is on the other end of the phone! This show began because I took a risk to let someone know that I cared; and although the relationship didn't work it healed some of the pain that I still felt from past relationships. I'm about to embark on another risky adventure building friendships with the opposite sex. If you've known me for any length of time you'll know that I'm very much the Golden Retriever, loyal to a fault.

I'm not looking (right, that's what I keep telling myself) for a relationship, this time I'm letting God bring "the one" into my life. She may even be here now, only time and God will tell. Your probably asking why I'm bringing this up, because I think it's important that ya'all have an opportunity to get to know Erik and I a little better.

In the mean time pray that God will allow me to focus on him and not my needs!

Crazy Easter EGGz

Pardon my lateness on blogging! Gene and I have been "SUPA BUZZAY". If you have been listening to the show at all recently you have heard Gene-o-Mack and I talking about Living Hope being at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Oregon for Easter Sunday Service. We have been nothing but swamped since about last saturday (Easter Eve!). I am just now getting a quick opportunity to jot down a couple of things.

First, yea for a hugely successful Easter! Numbers are being ballparked at 15,000 in attendance and over 700 baptized! Praise God for life change! Gene and I were both a big part too. Gene was playing some amazing sax on stage and I got the opportunity to bapitze in one of the pools. It was amazing! Also, wanted to say a quick "our bad" for not posting the new show as quick as we usually do. Please forgives us! If you choose to forgive us then YEA!! Brewed Awakenings and "Kinda" Work

I am sitting right now at Brewed Awakenings on 117th and 65th in Orchards because free wireless is terribly good! It is nice to be able to get some work done in a place like this. Unfortunately, I am sitting here with Josiah Warneking from Issakar and Pastor Seth from Living Hope Fisher's Landing. Not unfortunate that I sitting with them but I have gotten, like, nothing done since being here!

I did however polish off a very tasty blueberry smoothie and am feeling very satisfied! Mmmmm. Good idea that Josiah had! He is a clever guy! In case you haven't yet, run over and check out Issakar's new site at www.issakar.com. It has a lot of great pictures of Josiah, which is great for any man, woman or child. Plus it is the only place you can order their album where they will personally touch it before shipping it off to you. There is an even an Issablog, which is rarely updated but it makes you feel cool to go there.

Anyway, that's all I have to say. You're all neat. Kinda. No wait, you are. Neat.

I Was Robbed!!

Well, it wasn't me specifically but the stereo was stolen out of our Neon last night at our home. Crazy, huh? Stolen right out of there!

By the way, you are reading the EGG in the Morning Blog. The Blog that doesn't condone the cool crime of robbery!

My dad was pretty upset but then he found out is was covered by the insurance. He is muuuuuuuch better now. This wasn't a cheap stereo either! When I bought it (the car used to be mine), the deck was about $250, which is nothing to sniff at! Why do you think people feel the need to steal like that? It isn't the end of the world but it is a huge pain in the twosie maker.

On the brighter side, it is time to go stereo shopping!! WEEEEEEEEEEeeeeee!

I have been running like crazy today! We are soft launching a Saturday Night Venue at Living Hope Orchards this week and I am the Venue Pastor there. It's really cool but a lot of work! We have really great volunteers there helping us out. It should be a blast!

Do you ever feel like life never stops? Leading up to Easter I have been so worn out! I can't believe it! Meeting after meeting and long day after long day. OI! How do you guys escape the business of life? I am still trying to find ways to rest!

Hey EGGer's! What's shakin'?

I am sad because I realized I hadn't blogged in, like, FOREVER!!! I apologize to all of you. I have been wicked busy with work and life in general. I have failed the fans. I hope that you accept my apology.

To show that I am reformed in my laziness I am going to try my bestest to blog a lil every other day. What? What did he say? Yes, it's true. Even if it's simply "Hey guys! Had nachos today. Very Cheesey!!!" But I need everyone's accountability. Who knows, maybe even Gene-O-Mack will through in a couple of lines here and there! I kid.

Now that I have displayed how "hip" I am, on to today's ish. I like music. A lot. I think I can geerally say that we all do. Music is just a thing that is a part of all our lives. We all a favorite love song, break upsong, good day song, bad day song, etc. There are Lyrics that make all of us croon along while inspecting our hearts. I have heard music described as a universal language because I think our souls just understand it.

Well anyways, Erik wanted me to write a little bit about Christmas. I like Christmas. It is such a nice time of year. I love all the discount, garage sale christmas lights that my crazy hick neighbors put up. Out of a string of 300 lights about six of them work and blink. I also enjoy running away from all the people trying to kill me during this time of the year. They want to stuff my head with cotton and make tasty jerky out of my thighs. I also love the reindeer jokes. Good times, good times....in case you cannot tell, I'm being sarcastic. Duh.

I fear for my little deer life. Thank you for reminding me of the fear. DO you all fear christmas as much as I? I mean, honestly, the ferocious shopping lines, bitter sales grabbers and insane "we're sober but acting like we're dunk on rage" driver's. If you think about it, this is the most dangerous time of the year! Lock your doors, tape up your children and load your pea shooters! Santa Claus thumbin' to town!!!!

Erik Cares Issue #8 - Christmas Stinks...I Mean Rocks!

Hi Everyone! Howz my peeps, yo?

Well, I must say I am feeling a little bashful today. I wasn't aware that "Erik Cares" was such a hot commodity on the ol' newspaper stands! I have never had folks impatiently taping their foots for me before. Actually, let me correct myself. I have never had people waiting with baited breath for my so called self help blog. Honestly, it's wierd.

I do apologize, though. I have been very wrapped up in "Erik World" as of late. I have had a combo of sick days and vacation days that have kept me pretty cut off from the world. I am, however, emerging from my hole to bring you this. Apparently....

So, Christmas. I love it. There is just something in the air, ya know? I know this may sound cliche but I truely feel this way. It is just a time of joy and anticipation for me! I absolutely flip over shopping for friends and loved ones, wrapping presents so well that folks curse my name for discovering Packing Tape and just being around all the people! There is nothing like it for me. Don't get me wrong either. I remember the birth of my savior above it all. Born to die, to sacrifice it all for you and me. We matter so much to him. Do you suppose that the first time he opened his, Jesus realized that he would die for us all and make that sacrifice?

Some of you are like me and love this time of year. Others lean more towards the same side my mum is on. The side that really wouldn't miss it if it didn't exist. Where are you, this Christmas? Do you ere on te side of "lovin' it" or "bah humbug"? I am curious. But then again, who isn't? Me.

Erik Cares Issue #7 - Erik Doesn't Care

Hello, my friends! How are all of you??

May I share a frustration with you? I have been a little disheavled since last night. I got home after Living Free and I was just in time for one of my favorite shows, House. I LOVE House. He is my doctor Kiefer. And I must say that last night was shaping up to be a great new episode. That was until I ran across a problem.

See, elections were last night. Now, as a rule, EGG has decided to leave poltics out of our show and this isn't one of those talks anyway. My problem is with the wonderful people at FOX. About half an hour into a extremely good episode of House, my show was interupted by coverage of the victory party for Orygun's govenor, Ted Kulengoski.

Here is my dealy. I am good with the scrolling voting results at the bottom of the screen but to be perfectly frank I could care less about watching the democrats boast of their annihilating of the republicans and listening to canned speeches! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT MAKES ME MISS HOUSE!!!!!!!

Now, I would've even been okay had they made a little two minute speech and called it good and went back to House. NO! Gov. Ted didn't even come out until 20 minutes after coverage began!! Let's do the math: 30 mins. of House + 20 Minutes of Democrates + 3 mins. (give or take) of a poorly written speech = An uncompleted episode of House! AND THAT'S NOT THE WORST PART!! When I got back to House, it played another 5m minute clip from mid show, quite, went commercials and played end credits....

WHAT THE &*@#!!!! I didn't even see the end of the show! GGGGRRRRRrrrrrrrr.....

Am I the only one? Is anyone else frustrated? And you know they replayed the speeches on the news immediately following too. I am just mad. Sorry for barfing on all of you. What are friends for though, right? Let me know how you all feel about the whole thing. I think we should start something....

Erik Cares Issue #6 - The Break-Up

Hello My Friends! Erik here.

I was figuring I hadn't written one of these extremely helpful blogs in awhile, so I thought I might today. See if we could get a lil' chatting going on.

A friend of mine recently experienced a break-up. You know, from a relationship of a romantic kind. That got me thinking of the break-ups I have had to endure over my years of being an absolute stud. I have been on both ends. I have been the one doing the breaking-uping and I have also been on the end where there is ABSOLUTESHOCKANDHORROR when you are told it's over. I have found that one deals with the break-up differently depending on which end of it you are on.

For intance, my first relationship was with a wonder young lady whose name I will change to protect her identity. We will call her Sally. We started out with a pretty big obstacle in that I lived in Vancouver and Sally in Washougal. Of course now, that wouldn't be any kind of problem but at the time, niether of us could drive. When your gal is a couple of towns over it can make things hard! This was also just previous to emailing and IM came into it's own. Long story short, it was my first relationship and I was inadvertantly a jerk wad and Sally broke up with me. By letter. A LETTER, PEOPLE! For those ladies out there that believe breaking up via letter is a safe way to go, please, for the love of God and all that is holy, no "Dear John" letters!

I don't recall much of the healing process but my mother has recounted that I pretty much shut myself up in my room and listened to music whilst weeping and stroking my hair, telling myself that it was okay and that I was handsome. Okay, So I am being a little mellow dramatic. Just a little.

So, here is blogging opportunity, kids! Share a time when you were either dumped or did the dumping and how you dealth with it. Are you still friends? Or, do you still send each other hate mail every Christmas? Is there an easier way to do the break? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Anniversary & Halloween Goodies

It's EGG's one year anniversary this month! WOOHOO! It is hard to believe that we have been doing this for a whole year. Looking back at our humble beginnings as a clever birthday present for a one time friend, it is a little surreal seeing how far that God has brought our silly show. We are now a podcasted mock radio show with a pretty darn decent fan following, guest hosts out the ying yang, amazing musical artist whose lives and ministries we get to take part in and listeners all over the world!

Gene & I had a thought during our last broadcast. What if we just cut loose and had a party? Part anniversary party, part halloween party (for those that are Christians in our audience, it will be part "Harvest" party ;D). We thought it would be fun to get together on Halloween night, have some pizza and beer (of root) and watch a couple of oldy monster movies. A celebration to thank you and thank God for year number 1.

We are nailing down a few details but you are all invited! More details to come so be sure to keep your ears peeled to the show and eyes peeled on the blog. If you have any party suggestions (food, movies, games, etc.) just blog! I can tell you one game that will be back... LIGHTSABER WARS RETURNS!!!!!!!

Bad News, everyone. There will be no EGG up on iTunes this week. I'm sorry. Gene and I were both super-bee-busy this last week. I had a leadership conference and Gene had some painting to get done with our good friend Chris Fontes & TPO.

But on the other hand...Good News Everyone! Gene and I will be doing a double header coming up here this friday. Why? Because (A) We love you fans! (B) We love our jobs on EGG! (C) I have a neat story about NASCAR (D) President Bush will be on at some point (E) Cupcakes for all!! (F) I don't have a girlfriend.

Hey EGG buddies! Erik here.

I gots a couples of things fors yous. Firstly, CSI: Yacolt Premiered today on EGG in the Morning! It was Hil-tothe-larious! Brief Synapsis: Three bodies were found in Yacolt. CSI lead investigator John Grissle, believed them to be lightening strikes and Mother Nature was his prime suspect...until he found another....Join us as our good friend, yacoltian resident and brand new field reporter, Randy the Deer, interviews John Grissle on his findings. As the season progresses we will need you CSI ideas. Let us know if you have a good one!

In other EGG news, we need your help! What are your favorite EGG bits (or bites) from the show? We are polling for two reasons. One, as you may or may not have heard, Gene (the second G of EGG) has bought the domain rights to www.egginthemorning.com. You could go there now but it is as empty as my love life (minus you Jessica, of course **blushes**). We want to make the show downloadable on the website. However, we would like to put a funny preview by each. Let us know your favorite moments!

Also, our 1 year anniversary is coming up SUPERFAST!! We will be highlighting some of our favorite moments there as well. It will be party you won't want to miss!!
